NOTICE

The Ministry of Finance, the Economy and Investment wishes to inform the public that as from 1st January 2008 the Ministry for Resources and Infrastructure has assumed responsibility for the implementation and administration of the following grant schemes:
  • Solar Heating Energy Savers For Domestic Use
  • Photovoltaic Systems for Domestic Use
  • Thermal Roof Insulation Material for Roofs of Domestic Residences
  • Electric-powered Cars
  • Wind Energy Systems for Domestic Use
  • Household Appliances for Domestic Use Certified as Being Efficient in the Use and Consumption of Energy
Therfore as from 1st January 2008 application forms for such grants, including all the requested documents are to be submitted to the Malta Resources Authority Millennia Buildings, Second Floor, Aldo Moro Street Marsa. Application forms are available on www.mra.org.mt.

The other remaining grant schemes namely that associated with:
  • Weddings
  • Funerals
  • Priesthood Ordination
  • Musical Instruments
are to continue to be implemented and administered by the VAT Department, which Department shall be open to the public as per the following timetable:


Between the period 1 October and 15 June
Mornings: Tuesdays & Fridays from 8.30hrs
to 11.00hrs
Afternoons: Mondays, Wednesdays &
Thursdays
from 13.30 hrs
to 16.00 hrs


Between the period 16 June - 30 September
Mornings only: Mondays to Fridays from 8.30hrs
to 11.30hrs


On Public Holidays the Office shall not be open to the public.


Grants related to Expenditure incurred by Voluntary Organisations in their Activities, Projects and Initiatives in the Localities

As the government is increasingly becoming aware of the link between development strategies for our country and sustainable development of our localities, the Minister of Finance, the Economy and Investment has therefore made the following scheme that aims to give grants to voluntary organisations, related to expenditure in connection with the activities, projects and initiatives that these organisations carry out in the localities for the common good of the community.

Grant on the Purchase of Household Appliances for Domestic Use Certified as Being Efficient in the Use and Consumption of Energy – Termination of the Scheme

With reference to Government Notice No. 341, published in the Government Gazette dated 22 April 2008, the Minister of Finance, the Economy and Investment is extending the termination of such a scheme up to the 6 July 2008.

A Grant related to Capital Expenditure incurred by Officially Recognised Sport Associations in their Sport Facilities

The government believes that sport is really fundamental in order to have a more physically fit nation. The Minister of Finance, the Economy and Investment has therefore made the following Scheme that aims to give grants to officially recognised sport associations, that do not carry out their activities for scope of profit, with regards to capital expenditure incurred in their sport facilities.

A Once-Only Grant on the Purchase of a Musical Instrument

The general public is advised that by Notices 203 and 204 published in the Government Gazette No. 17,734, dated 1st March 2005, the provisions outlined in the Budget Speech for 2005, whereby certain eco-friendly and other measures were announced are now in force.

Purchasers of musical instruments intended for personal use benefit from a one time grant as specified in the abovementioned notices.
